Dermashield Aftercare

  • The medical grade adhesive sticks to the surrounding dry skin and will not stick to the new tattoo because it is producing
fluid. The new tattoo will be producing fluid for the first 12 to 24 hours.
  •  If there is a lot of fluid building up under the Dermashield, remove, wash with antibacterial liquid hand soap, allow to air dry, and replace with a second application.
  •  If there is little fluid build up, it can stay on up to 7 days after tattooing, eliminating washing and ointment.
  •  Do NOT apply any ointment or lotion before applying Dermashield.
  •  If the tattoo is already dried out, Dermashield will stick to the tattoo – it was NOT designed to be applied to tattoos that have already dried. It will stick to the dry tattoo! You must finish healing with ointment.
  •  It’s okay to remove the Dermashield and choose to use antibacterial soap and ointment, however it is not okay to use ointment and switch back to using Dermashield,.
  •  If you work in a dirty environment it’s best to keep the new tattoo covered for several days. Dermashield, can stay in place up to 6 days as long as it is adhering to the skin all the way around. If it becomes loose it is no longer protecting the tattoo and should be replaced.
  •  Dermashield can be worn in water, it should stay on through showering.
  •  Do not wear Dermashield beyond 7 days from getting tattooed.
